Although there are many causes for fatigue and low energy, the most common cause is adrenal dysfunction. Adrenals are the glands that sit atop the kidney (ad=top renal=kidney). Low adrenal function can causes fatigue, weakness, dizziness, frequent body pains, poor sleep and hormonal dysfunctions. These small glands regulate numerous hormones, several which help you deal with stress. Interestingly, the biggest stress for the adrenal gland is blood sugar fluctuation, followed by toxicity, infection and food sensitivites. Next comes emotional, physical and mental stress. Some people have several stressors. For most people, simple in office exam tests can detect and allow you to see immediate changes in function.
Other conditions that can cause fatigue are hypothyroidism, insomnia, sleep apnea, food sensitivities, general nutrient depletion and poor diet. Occasionally we must run laboratories to rule out anemia or other more insidious conditions. Most conditions are readily helped.
